Alexia Laferté Coutu (n.1990) est une artiste établie à Montréal (Canada). Reposant sur les principes de transfert et de réanimation, son travail sculptural révèle un dialogue entre les récits construits – notamment ceux liés au patrimoine bâti «consacré» par l’histoire – et l’expérience sensorielle et intuitive. Façonnées par pression d’argile ou de cuivre sur la surface de bâtiments, d’objets ou de monuments historiques, ses œuvres transmutent les aspects intentionnels et résiduels de leur matériau d’origine. Ses sculptures et installations ont été présentées au sein d’expositions individuelles et collectives notamment à la galerie Nicolas Robert, Toronto (2023), à la Fonderie Darling, Montréal (2022), au Centre d’art actuel Circa, Montréal (2021), à la galerie Doosan, Séoul, Corée du sud (2020), à la galerie Pangée, Montréal (2019) et à la Galerie de l’UQÀM, Montréal (2018).
Laferté Coutu est récipiendaire du Prix Pierre Ayot (2023). Ses œuvres font partie de la collection de la Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, de la collection de la Ville de Montréal et de collections privées au Canada et à l’international.

Alexia Laferté Coutu (b.1990) is an artist based in Montreal, Canada. Inhabited by ideas of transference and reanimation, her sculptural work reveals a dialog between constructed histories and sensorial, intuitive experiences. Originating with the pressing of fresh clay or copper onto the stones of historical buildings, objects or monuments, her works become records, recuperating and transmuting the intentional and residual aspects of her source material. Her sculptures and installations have been shown in personal and group exhibitions notably at Nicolas Robert Gallery, Toronto (2023), Darling Foundry, Montreal (2022), Centre d'art actuel Circa, Montreal (2021), Doosan Gallery, Seoul, South Korea (2020), Galerie Pangée, Montreal (2019) and Galerie de l'UQÀM, Montreal (2018).
Laferté Coutu is the recipient of the Pierre Ayot Prize (2023). Her works are part of the collection of Caisse de dépot et placement du Québec, of the collection of the City of Montreal, as well as private collections in Canada and abroad.
